Clinical Study of the Hip Replacement Arthroplasty

Abstract

|
142 hip replacement arthroplasties in 124 patients were performed from Jan. 1988 to Aug., 1992
The cases were fracture in 64 cases, avascular necrosis in 73 cases, fracture-dislocation of hip in 2 cases, rheumatoid arthritis in l case, congenital dislocation of hip in l case, pigmented villonodular synovitis of hip in l case.
The average Harris hip score exclude fracture case, improved from 45.0 preoperatively to 82.4 postoperatively.
The complications were intraoperative fracture in 8 hips, postoperative fracture in 3 cases, sciatic nerve palsy in 2 cases, and dislocation in 6 cases.
Hip arthrolasty is a useful and relatively safe technique for the treatment of selected cases, and it can restore good function of the hip.
